Michael Ellermann, a swine consultant at Aspire Agritech Consulting in Denmark, said that the construction of China's animal husbandry meat and food industry complex is progressing steadily. The complex has 105,000 sows and has 21 six-story buildings. architecture. Ellermann is based in China and works with customers in training, farm management and new farm development.

The site occupies 450 acres and another 500 acres are located in a logistics park with rail and road ports. The feed factory on the site will produce 720,000 tons of feed per year.

After completion, this year, this farm with 105,000 sows will produce 2.1 million pigs per year. The on-site slaughterhouse will slaughter and process 2.1 million pigs each year.

Each building has six floors, each unit has 5,000 sows, and each side of the building has 2,500 sows.

All waste water is fully treated and the by-products can be consumed.

Ellermann took these photos while visiting the complex last year, which was just four months old at the time.

The top two layers are sows and gilts. Below the fourth floor is the nursery school. The first three layers are terminator. Pigs are transported from one floor to another by elevator. All floors are all in and all out. The pig comes out of the farrowing room, enters the box elevator, and enters the nursery room below. After seven weeks, they went down one floor to finish the game.

All air entering and leaving the farm is filtered. The incoming air is filtered to prevent diseases; the exhausted air is filtered to reduce odors.

All fattening pigs will use automatic carts to go to the slaughterhouse. The slaughterhouse will be the last thing built in the complex.

The complex will provide 5,000 jobs. Workers live in the dormitory on the construction site (right). They stayed there for several months at a time before returning home to visit. Workers cannot bring food in because African swine fever has been found in vegetables and other foods.

The complex integrates feed processing, pig production, slaughtering, meat and food processing, and sightseeing. Ellermann said that it has achieved the integrated development of China's pig industry.

He said that this technology is leading the world. The complex will fully cover 5G networks. Ellerman said that smart equipment, the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies will be deeply integrated. Sick pigs will be identified through facial recognition, and then the robot will go to treat the pigs.

Why build such a large farm? "Just to prove you can," Ellerman said. He said that there are other farms in the mountainous areas of China, which are 9 or even 11 stories high to maximize the number of pigs on a smaller land.
